Since time immemorial, temples have been the focal points of Hindu religion and society. Not just centres of devotion for spiritual solace and divine grace, temples are living institutions that have witnessed both our traditions, way of life, and the rise and fall of society. As stated in our Puranas and Shastras:

_{विमुक्ता नारकैर्दुखै: कर्त्तु: क्र​‌ष्णस्य मन्दिरम् ।}

_{ब्र्ह्महत्यादि पापौघघातकम देवतालयम्  ||}

_{फलं यन्नाप्यते यज्ञ्यैर्धाम कृत्वा तदाप्यते  ।}

_{दैवागारे क्रते सर्वतीर्थस्नान फलम् लभेत्  ||}

(“Those who build Krishna temples are freed from the sins of hell and Brahma-slaying. The same fruits are obtained from the construction of temples as are obtained from sacrifices and bathing in Sarvatirtha.”)

This is why all the dynasties that ruled India gave importance to the construction, protection and maintenance of temples. They built magnificent, timeless temples and gave land and donations for their maintenance. Such temples, which received royal patronage, became integral parts of life/society as religious, educational and artistic centers, conducive to spiritual development and personal perfection. Many such temples are still with us.

Over time, due to foreign invasions, changes in the system, etc., most of the temples have been destroyed and become nameless.

It is necessary to identify such temples and revive them. A prosperous, self-respecting nation also needs beautiful, functional temples

Brothers and sisters,

The development of the Sri Ramalingeshwara Temple, located just 3 km from Yellapur, on the outskirts of Linganakoppa village, is one such effort. This requires the financial help and cooperation of all of you. This temple, which is said to have a history dating back to the Kadamba era, was completely destroyed  and in 2010 after consulting the Shastajna Sri Vishnu Hebbar through Ashtamangala ‘prashne’,  the architectural sanctum sanctorum and bell towers were constructed. The original Ramalingeshwara linga, which has been there since time immemorial, has been re-established and special pujas are being performed on daily and festive occasions with the cooperation of all the villagers.

Some basic facilities still need to be arranged here. For this, the administrative committee has formulated a plan and a large amount of financial resources need to be mobilized.
